The New Origins collection is a design in which Aline de Laforcade has explored the aesthetic and execution possibilities of jute and wool within a single piece. These are two fibers often present in her work, each with a very different character. Its design echoes the tactile legacy of these two materials, so widely used throughout history in the Mediterranean, but avoiding a mere reproduction of the past; instead, it gives continuity to ancestral languages and how they transform over time. New Origins therefore explores the continuity between ancestral knowledge and contemporary design.
The combination of both materials creates a constant dialogue between the structure of its design and the softness of its texture. While the jute provides an earthy and comforting character -which appears uniform from a distance but reveals subtle tonal variations that add warmth and depth up close- the wool introduces softness to the touch and an enveloping texture.
The secret of its execution lies in artisanal weaving at different levels, generating reliefs and three-dimensional volumes by varying the pile height of the wool, which is hand-knotted over the flat jute base. In this way, the surfaces of the New Origins rugs behave like small landscapes, where the materials themselves shape their visual language.
Vacuum regularly without a beater bar and blot spills right away. For deeper cleaning, use a professional rug cleaner.
