Hold Pin Pendant by SkLO
An expressive glass vessel that appears to stretch under its weight serves as a shade in this pendant. The glass element here is different from that of the Hold Sconce and Hold Pendant in that is round and not flattened, and it is also of a different size. The glass element hangs from a brass "pin" element, made of a continuous ribbon of the brass bar, which opens and closes to allow for removal of the glass. The brass socket is suspended on an exposed fabric-wrapped electrical cord from the top of the "pin" and suspends the light bulb within the opening at the top of the glass. The "pin" element is available in two lengths.
About Hold Pin Pendant
A new language
The Hold Pin Pendant makes use of a new brass language developed by SkLO Design Partner, Karen Gilbert. "The 'pin' of the Hold Pin Pendant is a solid length of the flat brass bar, bent into an elongated loop which overlaps itself at the bottom," says Gilbert. "This 'pin' secures the glass for the light. It is an entirely practical design solution presented in a way that is also decorative - the tension in the brass itself allows the 'pin' to open and close to secure and remove the glass. This functionality is elevated into something sophisticated, beautiful, and seemingly effortless. To achieve this requires a deep understanding of the materials used, both glass and metal. This is the kind of design we seek to achieve at SkLO."
Elemental expression
The glass element of the Hold Pin Pendant is a different version of the "hold" shape than that of the Hold Sconce or Hold Pendant, yet it shares that elemental expression of glass stretching as though molten. The Hold Pin Pendant's two lengths of "pin" allow it to fit in spaces with high or low ceiling heights.
