Float 2.0 Pendant by SkLO
Large spheres of handblown Czech glass suspended on rigid brass stems. Two glass sizes available. A custom brass socket assembly through one side holds the light bulb and is connected to the canopy at the ceiling with a length of exposed fabric-wrapped electrical cord. Each glass sphere is blown by hand without the use of moulds, and so is slightly imperfect in shape. Two brass thumb screws attach the removable bulb-and-socket from the side of the glass.
About Float 2.0 Pendant
Glass shaped by hand
The glass spheres of the Float 2.0 Pendants are thick, heavy, and massive because of their free-blown nature. Elemental in their simplicity. Irregular and imperfect, they are unmistakably handmade. Each glass shade also features a signature SkLO detail, a rippling fire-polished mouth which is created by a second dip into the molten glass, and then the piece is broken from the glassblower's pipe and fire-polished, intentionally introducing an uncontrollable detail, and making each one different.
Pushing the limits of glass
Produced without the use of a mould to give it shape, the spheres of the Float 2.0 Pendants are meant as a pure expression of handblown glass, and the skill of the Czech glassblowers who produce SkLO glass. The larger of the two sizes, at 20"/500mm diameter, is the biggest free-blown sphere possible. Perfect signature details for sleek interiors of all kinds.
