Hemicycle Vis-A-Vis Seat by Ligne Roset

The Mobilier National has a twin mission : to furnish official buildings and to embody French design at the point of innovation. Pierre Paulin participated in this project from 1971 with Elysee and Pumpkin. Philippe Nigro takes up the baton in 2020 with Ligne Roset and Hemicycle. If the term « Hemicycle » might be evocative of the Assemblee Nationale, it was also chosen for its completely different geometrical connotation. The use of this straight seat must also be well suited to use in institutions, public spaces or more traditional habitations. It represents a classically-styled welcoming place capable of travelling between the highest echelons of power and the intimacy of a contemporary apartment. Construction : Structure of back comprises two linked mechanically-soldered frames. Armrest and Structure of back clad in high resilience Bultex foam (50 kg/m3 - 6.3 kPa) and 110g/m² polyester quilting. Structure of seat in panels of plywood. Matt black lacquered metal base. Comfort: Suspension of seat via blocks of linked biconical steel wire springs. The seat is composed of high resilience polyurethane Bultex foams (38 kg/m3 - 3.6 kPa and 36 kg/m3 - 2.8 kPa). Clad in 100g/m² polyester quilting. Steel mesh suspension on back with Comfort layer in Bultex foam (26 kg/m3 - 1,4 kPa). COUTURE/HOUSSE : 3 mm bourrelet stitch around the edges of the armrest/backrest Structure, with 5 mm baguette stitching on the seat. Covers may be removed by a professional. Important : the back cushions and front section of the seat have vertical seams. Only MAXI, which is upholstered crosswise, has no seam (neither on the seat nor the back).
