Mobidec Footstool by Ligne Roset
Ligne Roset is producing Mobidec, a footstool specially designed by Pierre Charpin for the 'MobiBoom' exhibition at the Musee des Arts Decoratifs (23.09.10 - 02.01.11), which was dedicated to the explosion in French design between 1945 and 1975. Quite evidently, the design of this footstool borrows from the equestrian world - which, thanks to its identity as the guardian of artisanal tradition, is something of an enhancive sphere. Resembling a slightly truncated pommel horse (or a saddle), the bulk of the seat rests on a metal base which lifts it from the ground, the design of which is reminiscent of stirrups. A fabric strap, matching the footstool, encircles the seat, fixed to these 'stirrups', and serves as a handle to enable Mobidec to be lifted and moved with ease. Construction 3 layers of criss-cross panels clad in polyether foam 28 kg/m³ - 7.8 kPa. Base in steel wire (8 mm) finished in satin black lacquer with polythene gliders. Comfort Seat cushion in high resilience polyurethane Bultex foam 60 kg/m³ - 7.8 kPa clad in 100 g/m² polyester quilting. Making-up Cover with integral webbed strap for ease of handling. Removable cover.
