Known to many as 'the man who illuminated Finland', the legendary designer and met- alsmith Paavo Tynell is one of the leading lights of 20th-century industrial design . A classic 1950s Tynell design, the 1967 pendant expands on the design language developed in 1948 for the 1965 pendant. The 1967 is characterized by a conical canvas shade which exudes warm ambient light, with Tynell's signature brass hardware adding a subtle, premium expression. Below the bulb, a fabric diffuser modulates the light and, beneath this, a decorative brass detail gives each lamp a flourish of character, and subtly influences the play of light it generates.

PAAVO TYNELL

Paavo Tynell (1890-1973) was an industrial designer, known as the great pioneer of Finnish lighting design and fondly dubbed as "the man who illuminated Finland". Tynell was one of the founders and chief designers of Taito Oy - the first industrial producer of lighting fixtures in Finland. With the innovation of electricity in the beginning of the 20th century, Taito Oy and Tynell expanded the thinking and manufacturing of modern lighting solutions in Europe and abroad.
