Molteni&C has partnered with the Gio Ponti Archives and heirs of the renowned Milanese architect to reconstruct a rare piece of outdoor furniture: the D.150.5 chaise longue, originally designed for the cruise ship Andrea Doria in 1952. This special edition pays tribute to Ponti's exceptional work on the ship, showcasing his multifaceted creativity and ability to create unique environments. The chaise longue, envisioned and designed by Ponti himself, is a testament to his representation of beauty and functionality in his later architectural designs.
It showcases the fluidity of space, with furnishings that adapt to the needs and comforts of its users, rather than being fixed in one place like traditional living room or bedroom furniture. This synthesis of values results in a stunning aesthetic, as taught by Ponti himself. Our chaise longue boasts two distinct features: the continuous line of the side design, seamlessly connecting the backrest, seat, armrest, and footrest.
