L’Artisan Bohème by Calle Henzel explores the rug as a painterly surface, where gesture, layering, and material presence shape the composition. Rather than beginning with a fixed decorative pattern, the collection approaches the textile as a field of expression, allowing forms, tonal shifts, and irregular boundaries to emerge through a process that draws as much from painting as from traditional rug design.
Across the series, compositions appear built through layered marks, washes of pigment-like color, and fragmented planes that intersect or dissolve into one another. The surfaces evoke the visual language of studio practice, brushstrokes, scraped textures, and areas where forms seem partially revealed or obscured. These elements create a sense of movement and depth that unfolds gradually across the textile field.
